I have the life that I do because of her sacrifices. While painting and reflecting on my cancer/biz journey, I can’t help but think of those who came before me and be inspired by their spirit. JUNE 1ST A YEAR AGO.. This past weekend at the AAPI market, chatting it up with @grandteaimports reminded me that a whole year ago I hosted the hot girls that brew market! Amazing event, but I felt awful and knew that I needed to go to the doctor so I said to myself, this is the last work thing ima do before I take a break. Little did I know it was CANCER 💀 getting me in real time 😂 no one can say I’m not dedicated to my biz bc I quite literally almost 👻💀 for it hehehe. We’re here a whole year later with a fun summer ahead of us! MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH ! I knew something was up with me the minute I didn’t feel like making or drinking coffee 🫠 depression & anxiety SUCKS. I had a really tough year getting laid off, diagnosed with cancer and losing my big brother. My brother is an amazing person, his strength inspires me everyday to ponerme las pilas and hope for better days. If you’re going through a tough time, I’m here to tell you that better days are ahead. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but soon 🩷 till then remember healing isn’t linear and you got this 🩷 I leaned on my support system and resources at @memorialsloankettering and asking for help is one of the best decisions I’ve made. There was no way for Pilas to succeed if I wasn’t okay not just physically but mentally too. I felt the need to post this due to a recent comment I got about me “playing my sick card” and I feel like that’s an indication that there needs to be more empathy towards mental health struggles because you really be physically and mentally unwell, almost on the verge of 💀 & become physically disabled and lose a sibling and then someone says that about you 😂 like I said - you got this twin! 🩷 un abrazo fuerte, Pilas 🩷☕️ #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters
